JEWS AND DRUGS

DOESN'T THE MEDIA ALWAYS MAKE IT KNOWN THAT MEXICANS, ASIANS, BLACKS AND WHITES ARE BEHIND THE WORLDWIDE DRUG INDUSTRY? WHY DO THEY NEVER MENTION JEWS!

1. WIRE SERVICES, DECEMBER 23 1997
Two rabbis and another Jew pleaded guilty to money-laundering charges for funneling more than $3 million in Colombian cocaine proceeds through a Brooklyn synagogue and yeshiva. The perpetrators were charged with being part of a group of Orthodox Jews who laundered the $3.5 million from Colombian and Dominican drug dealers in 1995 and 1996.
By channeling the drug money through the Eitz Chaim synagogue and a Jewish school, the Bobover Yeshiva, as well as another Jewish institution, the Chaim Shel Shulem, all located in the heavily Orthodox Jewish Borough Park section of Brooklyn, they were able to move the money to Swiss bank accounts and then back to the dealers. RABBI MAHIR REISS, 47, and his brother ABRAHAM REISS, 48, pleaded guilty in Brooklyn federal court. Rabbi Reiss faces up to four years in prison, while Abraham Reiss faces three years.

An Ecstasy-smuggling ring has been cracked by the Israel Police, in collaboration with its counterparts in the US and Europe. Seventeen Israelis are being held in Spain and the US, and more arrests are expected. The ring is believed to have operated for a year. The investigation began in March, when the Northern District police learned that an Ecstasy ring led by Oded Tuito was still active, although he was under arrest in Barcelona on different charges. The district passed information it had to the various countries concerned, and set up joint surveillance operations. EITAN AND EREZ NOI and YOSEF HOTVASHVILLI - were arrested in Barcelona for several jewelry-store heists, which turned up enough evidence to arrest MICHEL ELKAYAM- believed to have led the Ecstasy ring in lieu of Tuito - and his accomplices in North America. These are YA'ACOV LEVY, of Netanya; VICTOR MOR-YOSEF, of Afula; EPHRAIM ZA'AFRI, of Rehovot; SHIMON KASLASI, of Kiryat Bialik; RAHEL LAHMI, of Rehovot; ITAI AVIV, of Upper Nazareth; and KAFIR BAZAK, of Afula. Also under arrest are YITZHAK SABAG, of Yokne'am; YEHIEL AMOUYAL, of Haifa; NISSIM ALUL, of Netanya; and OREN GADASI, of Even Yehuda.

AN international money-laundering ring run by New York Hasidim washed millions of dollars in cocaine proceeds for the Colombian cartels, prosecutors disclosed yesterday. The group laundered at least $1.7 million for the druglords, holding secret meetings with the Colombians in Miami and midtown Manhattan, according to papers filed by Manhattan U.S. Attorney James Comey. The suspects were brazen - up to $500,000 would be laundered at a time. One of the suspects, AVRAHAM ZALTZMAN, allegedly bragged that he "could pick up money anywhere and wire it anywhere," according to FBI affidavits accompanying the arrests.

9.THE JERUSLAM POST, DECEMBER 20, 1991
Drug runners study Torah, eat kosher - and pray for amnesty amid the horrors of Bangkwang jail. SHIMON DAHAN is doing time, he insists, "for a flower." It’s not botanical interests, however, that made the 67-year-old French-born Israeli an inmate of Bangkok’s Bangkwang Central Prison for the past six years. Dahan is serving a 100-year sentence for smuggling a derivative of the poppy - heroin. Among the other inmates in his Block 2 are three fellow Jews - all also lifers for drug offenses - and Dahan may owe them his life. "If you have no money for extras, you’re dead," Dahan’s cellmate EDDY TUTIN, a clerkish French Jew of 50 in the fifth year of his sentence, shouts to me from behind double iron mesh screens in the packed, cacophonous visitors’ courtyard. "If you have no friends, you go down.". Two years ago, the four "leased" a $500-a-year cell for their "Jewish House." It’s an exclusive club equipped with a table and chairs, bookshelves and a color TV. Cloistered there by day (the prisoners don’t work), they read the Torah or one of the books provided by Rabbi Nehemya Wilhelm, a Lubavitcher hasid from Brooklyn who for the past five years has been catering to Bangkok’s Jewish backpackers.
